Thursday 26 September
The first PLP session was exciting and stressful. We met our denim project group and I think I did a good job at socialising. I have no idea yet about the designer's work as they had nothing to show us, but the fashion buyers students had a very nice presentation which I found very promising. I started thinking about ideas to promote the future garments. When I think about Hiut Denim is timeless, sustainable, creative, attention to detail and quality over quantity. I also learned that Hiut is trying to reach a younger audience. Knowing that a younger audience can not afford their denim we could search for a way for them to reach Gen Z without promoting the new jeans but promote them second-hand. For example, clients who don’t use their denim anymore could return them to Hiut and the brand could create a pop-up to resell those second-hand denim for a lower price. To make sure they reach a young audience I would do the pop-up in Spitafield and could even collaborate with a second-hand store such as Atika or Rockit that could carry the second-hand denim collection in their shop. For the shoot, I am thinking about artistic images, toned colours, and low shutter speed for a blurry movement effect. I would like to have a captivating image that would make people on the street stop when they see it, not just an ad but a piece of art.

Today’s 16 personality tests taught me more about myself and my peers. It was amusing and interesting we also looked at what jobs we would be interested in where we would like to work and for who. I already had my place ideas and people to apply for as I started doing this at the beginning of September. Still, it was interesting to get everyone else’s ideas and opinions.

Today we have looked at the many job choices out there, where to look for them, and where to contact certain people by using social media to find their emails or look through creative agencies, magazines and social media post-credits. We also looked at how people grow in the job which usually starts from an internship and assistant then junior and keeps going up. It is important to reach for high jobs and opportunities but we need to stay realistic on what we can and cannot do and we can't have too high expectations. We also created a CV and were taught how to put things together, what to add and what not to avoid mentioning but also how to word things and sugarcoat some easy entry-level jobs to make them sound more professional.
October 17th
On October 17th, I attended the Rave Late event titled “Nuff Said” by Ravensbourne University. "Nuff Said" is a collective of Ravensbourne alumni who have come together to form a creative agency dedicated to fostering connections and promoting inclusivity in the creative industry. Throughout the evening, we were shown an inspiring selection of work produced by talented individuals within the Nuff Said agency. Each piece was deeply impactful, bringing raw emotions and diverse perspectives to the forefront and centring on real people and their stories.
Rave Late is a recurring evening event designed to bring together students and industry professionals, creating a welcoming and engaging environment for students to explore the creative world. The event introduces the industry to students in a way that feels both accessible and inspiring, offering a unique opportunity to network, gain insights, and be inspired by the achievements of those who were once in our position. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of inclusivity and authentic connection in creative work, and it highlighted how meaningful narratives can be elevated when diverse voices and experiences are embraced. This event was a motivating experience for me and my peers telling us to embrace our creativity and how normal it is to try different things before finding the right path.

Reflection on my Ann Demeulemeester book;
The few hours before submitting my book were a mess. I had a full-on breakdown crying over the bleed of my book not being cut straight, telling myself that all this hard work to end up with a book that wasn't straight was ironic as Ann Demeulemeester is known to have some of the best cuts in the industry. I pulled myself together and made a great cover to hide the mess. This book journey was rich in experience I learned to dive deep into a brand and roleplay my way into it as well. What I learned from this project is that thankfully I have amazing organisational skills which to me was one of the most important for this project to work according to my plan. I noticed throughout the project that I was sometimes a bit scared to take risks and take liberties with my book, I saw myself being more confident as I went along and experienced more with different mediums, my favourite being scanning, I scanned everything I could to create backgrounds.
